Ixelles - 350m² - 4 bedrooms
1.650.000€
Just a stone’s throw from Chatelain, this house by Horta is an Art Nouveau masterpiece.
Built in 1903 by the architect Victor Horta for his friend, the art critic and collector Sander Pierron, it belongs to the most classical period of Horta’s career. With limited means, he was able to give it elegance and quality, while simplifying its forms and choice of materials. In the words of the art critic, it offers “an impression of astonishing, intimate luxury”, which the current owner has preserved to perfection. Inhabited by only three successive owners with a passion for art and culture, it is in an exceptional state of preservation.
With a surface area of ±350 m², 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a terrace and a 70 m² south-facing garden, the 5-storey house includes a kitchen and separate dining room on the mezzanine floor. On the second floor, two living rooms, one of which is extremely bright, lit by large bay windows with transparent, bevelled glass giving direct access to the terrace and south-facing garden.
The master bedroom is on the second floor. On the second floor, Sander Pierron’s former studio, illuminated by a large bay window, has been transformed into a suite, bathroom and dressing room. On the third floor, two guest bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Heating is gas.
For the first time in his career, Victor Horta used polychromy to enliven the red-and-white brick façade. The more luxurious side is provided by the base of the building, as well as the door frames, the cheeks around the balustrade and the bluestone balcony brackets. The letterbox and door handle are in bronze. Inside, abundant colored stained glass windows, marble mosaic floor, mahogany staircase, gilded metal banister, oak floor, ornate door handles and numerous pieces of original pitchpain furniture in perfect condition. The house was listed in 1998 for its facades, roof and certain parts of the interior, including the fixtures and fittings.
